OVERVIEW

Over 6 years ago, the Hillfields estate lost their community centre due to vandalism and neglect and it was subsequently demolished. Gradually community programmes were disbanded and the area forgotten. However Hillfields Park Baptist Church formed a team of volunteers who took it upon themselves to provide the necessary programmes the community of Hillfields needs.  For the past 5 years Hillfields Park Baptist has been running a week full of programmes, which includes a Lunch Club for people over 60, a senior football team, Keep fit classes, aerobics, a dance group, a parent and baby group and youth club. All these programmes are housed in one church hall which is not designed to accommodate them and space is now becoming limited. In 2007 the church had plans drawn up to provide a new community centre for the Hillfields estate. In January 2009 planning permission was received and in November 2009 we received a budget estimate for the project, estimated at costing over £860,000. The church has personally raised over £50,000 towards the project and will save an additional £290,000 through volunteer work, using their own skilled workers and setting up an apprenticeship scheme, this means that current target is now £520,000. We are a small church that wants to provide a centre of hope and expectation for Hillfields. We need all the support possible both financially and in spreading the word, if you can donate towards the project we would be so thankful, however if you can't you can still contribute by spreading the word and sharing this website with your friends, family and work colleagues. Help us to build a new future in Hillfields.
